Looking for a tutor / technical consultant for ruby on rails assistance for ROR newbie (i.e. I'm tired of burning hours trying to trouble shoot my gaffs! smile )

Currently interested in implementing MySQL parent / child relationships (see message board posting "Extending Parent to multiple Children in extended 'Rails 2.3: Associated models accepts_nested_attributes_for' discussion") and other items of interest. First couple meetings we will also cover other general ROR things (i.e. I may be missing some basic concepts, but I've read a number of ROR How To's...).

I envision we'd meet at a coffee shop in the Berkeley/Albany area on regular basis for an hour a week. In between meetings tutor would be available by e-mail for questions (tutor will track time spent on e-mails & let me know what I owe them).

The student (me) has 15+ years system development experience including 8+ years of product management experience in Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), but hasn't coded in quite awhile. I am interested in learning ROR as a rapid prototyping tool. Currently using Aptana Studio 1.2 w/ Radrails and MySQL db.

Willing to pay $20 / hour. Currently timing of meetings is open, but may shift to evening / weekends in the future.

Please reply to this thread if interested.

You may consider taking a class from marakana.com.

I'm teaching a class coming up in Advanced Rails and we'll cover, among other things, the accepts_nested_attributes feature. Also, we're working on offering online versions of this content for a lower price.

Best,

Wolf
