Hey guys,
A year ago three friends came up with a great idea and have spent every waking hour of every day developing it. All while keeping the concept of the site a secret; we quit our full time jobs, sacrificed time away from our families, and are willing to do whatever it takes to make sure this site becomes a reality. We are looking for the missing piece of our team and need an experienced developer, willing to embrace the role as our technical leader. You will be welcomed with open arms, and will be given the greatest thing we have to offer, our idea, this project. You will be an equal member of our team and being such will make you a partial owner of the company. If you or someone you know is interested in getting more details, please email me mike.reid07@gmail.com Thanks, Michael Reid P.S. – LAMP environment |

We are looking for an experienced rails developer to mentor a few newbies, help with some architecture decisions and code some components. We have 3 and 1/2 short time-line projects that need some help, and must be completed by mid-September.
This is a wonderful opportunity for someone looking to shore up his/her rails teaching skills -- or for someone who just enjoys helping new developers come up to speed. Also, a definite possiblity for continued part-time work once these are completed. If you're interested, please give me a call:: Hope - (925)294-3657 |

Hi, I am the leader of a new project group at a well-established systems management product startup, BigFix, in Emeryville. I'm looking for someone to join us as we stretch the boundaries of what can be done with Rails.
------------------- As a programmer at BigFix in the Decision Support System (DSS) Group you will be designing and developing new systems that will allow our customers to explore, understand, and act on information gathered across their IT deployments. You will be responsible for working closely with product management--along with occasional direct customer interaction--to gather requirements and to help QA review and test your design. We don't require an exact match of your experience with the languages and technologies we use, but rather expect you to have significant strengths in the areas you are already familiar with and to be eager to pick up new ones. Some of the core pieces of our work are done with Ruby on Rails, Flex, MS SQL Server, C , and C++. We are as interested in technical verve as years of experience and have positions for junior and senior engineers. The task at hand is to extend our first web-based reporting product (Software Asset Management) to new areas of asset management and then to develop a generic reporting platform to easily expand analytical reporting to other topic domains. Everyone working on DSS at some point touches all components spanning from the database to the Rails app tier to the Flex UI. If you're fanatical about building elegant systems, if you can't put it down until the query is optimized just so, if you're passionate about making software which your users will love, BigFix DSS is the place for you. BigFix is a fast-growing, innovative enterprise software company in Emeryville California. BigFix has a unique technology and approach to computer security and systems management. The BigFix solution is a massively scalable distributed processing system that continuously discovers, assesses, remediates, and enforces the health and security of all enterprise computers in real-time via a single, policy-driven agent. BigFix Inc. is an equal opportunity employer, offering a great work environment, challenging career opportunities, professional training and competitive compensation. Hello all,
We're a Berkeley-based startup developing a suite of software tools for the solar power deployment industry. We are currently working on a simple initial application that we are launching late this month. Much of the code is complete, but we now need a qualified Ruby developer that can begin working on the project NOW to complete out some missing functionality. We would estimate the total work effort is about 1.5 to 2 weeks. End product will be a public site for the solar industry, a highly visible and cleanly designed sample project in the hot cleantech space to include in your portfolio! If you're interested, please e-mail me ASAP at ealderman(at)solarnexus(dot)com. Eric |

SF startup (a block and a half from Montgomery BART station) looking for a rails dev..
Please direct resumes and queries to marshall a t dogtime d ot com We are a San Francisco startup looking for an experienced Rails developer to join our engineering department. DogTime Media is responsible for the world's largest vertical network for the pet industry and develop products ranging from rich media widgets that are distributed across hundreds of partner sites to Facebook applications to help raise awareness of shelter animals to one of the largest pet sites on the internet. We are somewhat flexible on our requirements for this position because of the breadth of projects that we have; however, this position would likely be first working on overhauling a traditional site to be a community/user generated content offering. Facebook Connect experience is definitely a plus, as well as experience with rails applications at scale -- we are not at crazy scale yet, but we have been successful enough to have some reasonable challenges. For example, our Facebook app is still fairly young, but it services ~5 requests per second (and it generally needs to fulfill a req in <.4 sec so that FB won't give up on it). Other complementary experience could include Flash and/or Flex development, media streaming/transcoding, or advanced CSS or JS (YUI, jQuery, etc.) skills. A little more about our work environment.. Our office is a block from BART, in a great location near Union Square. We are all very passionate about our jobs and our company's mission (to keep dogs out of shelters and in good homes), but we also respect that people have families and lives outside of work. Within reason, we are flexible around work hours, but expect to our team members to be in the office so that we can take advantage of the efficiencies (communication, productivity, ...) afforded by being a small company. |
