BIO:
Ezra Zygmuntowicz is a lead contributor to the Merb framework and a co-founder of EngineYard.com, a scalable Rails hosting service. He is the author of the Rails Deployment book for the Pragmatic programmers and has contributed many open source Ruby and Rails related projects such as BackgrounDrb, ez-where, Merb and Rubinius. He was a speaker at The Rails Edge, the 2006, 2007 & 2008 RailsConf and the 2007 SDForum Ruby conference as well as The Ruby Hoedown, RubyEast and MerbCamp.

  “ Ezra was a witty presenter, but I already knew of almost all the content he presented. That's not necessarily his fault, though. I envision a better meetup format where small groups of people gather around code and have discussions about it. There's a general issue with the presentation format when long-winded questioners take up everyone's time for too long and the event becomes uninteresting. Smaller groups gathered around specific projects, talking about specific pieces of code might be much more interesting and resistant to the drivel. It's still just a vision though. ”

  “ At the news of the Rails-Merb merge, we heard: "ok, big fish eats small fish". After hearing this presentation, one has the feeling that exactly the opposite is happening. In any case, it was great to hear terms like "memory footprint", "lean framework", "speed of execution", (from high level concepts to even "small" ones like the design of alias method chain) from a Rails3 programmer. 2009 looks very interesting. ”
