6:30 - 7:00pm -- Code Blitz:

Bring your tired, hungry code yearning to breathe free, throw it up on the screen, and get help from our members.

7:00 - 8:15pm -- The Featured Presentation:

Walt Schlender's talk will expand on our recent introductory talk on Flex and focus on what Flex, Flash and AIR are, and what new capabilities they introduce to a developers' tool chest. These new tools include:

>> real-time data streams - tcp and udp
>> video and audio
>> advanced graphics
>> full screen mode
>> 3D
>> telephone interfaces
>> and more...

We'll talk about where to use flash/flex and where to use HTML/JavaScript. What it's like to develop in flash and flex (including some thoughts on how to architect good applications). And how flash and flex can use ruby and rails as a data provider to power pure awesomeness.

BIO:
Walt Schlender has spent the past 3 years working with Flash, Flex, Air and Ruby. The first of these years was spent doing consulting for clients throughout the bay area - projects included dynamic streaming video and audio players, embedding flash video in Google maps bubbles, and flash widgets to graphically display social graphs. Following contracting work, Walt co-founded Mousecloud, a company which built a pure flex web conferencing product.

Walt loves software architecture and "cool" projects. When he's not writing code, you can find him on stage doing improv theater or hanging out at various bay area technology events.

8:15 - 8:30pm: Help Wanted / Available

If you need Ruby or Rails developers or are looking for your next gig, bring it to the group and see what turns up.
