As LiveOps Rails Performance Engineer, working from our San Francisco space, your mission will be to generate best-in-class Rails code and optimize our database performance for our next generation product. Previous professional experience engineering high-volume, transaction-oriented, consumer-facing web sites, using ROR, is mandatory and will allow you to hit the ground running. Exposure to Agile practices and solid knowledge of either front-end and back-end technologies such as JavaScript, CSS and AJAX, JQuery, MySQL, and ROR will enable you to take point in a variety of areas. A proven track record of developing innovative code in a test-driven, cross-browser, cross-platform environment will ensure a functional application for all our users. You should have extensive hands-on experience making real-world production Rails application fast and keeping it so. Ideally you would have been involved in optimizing common hotspots in Ruby code, optimizing template rendering, using techniques for faster MySQL queries, debugging live production applications, debugging performance problems caused by load-balancing solutions commonly used with Rails. You follow best practices for keeping your Rails application fast. This includes performance-aware coding and unit testing, continuous performance integration testing, application profiling, techniques for realistic database profiling and production performance monitoring.
