So far so good! I thought the first meetup was super productive. If I had one tip for the next meetup, it would be to pass out color-coded badges to people, say green badges for people who are looking for work, red badges for people who are hiring. I've seen it work in other situations (spoken as someone who is neither looking for a job, nor employees :) )

It was great to see technologies demo'd; sometimes it is difficult to set the time aside and this makes it happen.

So you can hear first hand from people using the tools - what they do, how they do it, what works, what does not. You'll accelerate your own learning curve and save way more time in the long run than the 2 hours you're going to spend at this meetup.

I enjoyed talking with smart people in this group. I suggest that if anyone want to hire, why not make some simple flyer so people would get details and may refer other friends.

This was my first RoR Meetup. I'll be back next month. In addition to the presentations, I had a few good conversations with some of the other attendees.

I am happy that I discovered this Meetup group. When I first registered with the group, I was not too sure. I am glad I did. If you want to hookup with folks in the Bay area who are working on Rails, this is a good place.

  • Silicon Valley Ruby on Rails

I would like to see this meetup expand past the typical presenter->audience format. I'd like to see more dialog between folks in the group, since I think the expertise in the room was definitely not limited to the presenters. I'm not exactly sure how to accomplish this, but some way to increase the dialog at the expense of the monologue would be good. I guess I want more of a social/networking group than a "Ruby/Rails is l33t d00d!" group. :)
